I started out really liking this book because it read as enemies to lovers. Ford is that uptight billionaire business man stuck in a rut thinking his way of life is the only right way. Harley is that hard working yet jaded chick that has had to fight her way through the crap hand she was dealt. They had that whole flirty bickering banter going on that I just love but about 60% in I started losing interest. The book picked back up around the 85% mark but I found the plot a bit too serendipitous even for me and I usually eat that kind of stuff up. It was just too much for one person to have happen to them.Ford has taken over his late father’s multimedia company and the building has a vacancy for lease. Harley opens a bakery in said space and they meet. Ford has two brothers, Jack and Harrison, that really made the story more interesting with their banter and antics. They are a tight family unit yet the family is still mourning the abrupt death of their father 5 years ago. Harley has had a rough go and no family except for her Gramps as her mother is a drug addict and her father isn’t around. As Ford and Harley get to know each other, she pulls Ford out of his rut while he gives her the confidence to be the best she can be but there is evil lurking in the shadows and once the truth is revealed, will these two be able to get the HEA they so desperately want?This book had a big twist I never saw coming and while I like the idea of fate and destiny in my books, this was way too out there for me. I felt like with everything revealed in this book, I should have felt more but I just didn’t care about most of it and some crazy stuff goes down. I rated 3.5 stars for the family dynamic, the banter in the beginning and the unexpected turn this book took but I just couldn’t get into it the way I would have hoped. I’m actually more interested to read the other brother’s stories but I’m not sure it’s worth my time. Legacy is the perfect mix of humor, banter, and suspense, Laura's perfect recipe! I loved Harley and Ford and their banter and tension was top notch! And Ford's brother, Harrison and Jack, and their relationships with Harley and their family, were absolutely precious and I can't wait for their stories! The twists and turns from start to finish tied everything together with a bow made of crazy string but I loooved how Laura bound Harley and Ford's fates together. I didn't expect any of it and it was all incredible!Honestly, one of the things I love about all of Laura's books, from when I first read Beautifully Damaged up til now with Legacy, is how she takes what could be a typical romance plot line — enemies -> friends -> lovers -> drama -> fall out -> coming back together/HEA — and she turns it on it’s head. She keeps me guessing the whole time. Depending on how far in I am, I can anticipate that something will happen, but I can never predict what is going to happen. And no matter what happens, none of it feels forced. It can feel a little far-fetched but the way Laura strings it all together makes it feel like it was meant to happen.If you've read any of Laura's books before, then you need to pick this one up immediately because its her best yet!If you haven't read any of Laura's books before, then you need to pick this one up immediately because you'll fall in love her storytelling and will immediately want to read her other books!
